WIS Activities

What a week of activities at WIS!  Our Title 1 reading teachers held their “iCreate” night Tuesday evening.  We had a good group brave the bad weather and enjoy some fun activities and pizza.  Wednesday afternoon many of our running club athletes continued training in preparation for the upcoming jingle bell run in Springfield.  Thursday afternoon saw science club, cooking club, and Lime team craft night keep a large number of our students involved in high interest activities.  It is great to see these kids find fun things to get involved with here at school!

Our building hat and glove donation tree and Salvation Army bell ringing continues through next week.  Our students are getting fired up in preparation for our 2nd quarter iChoose assembly on Friday the 19th.  We have some great prizes that will be awarded.  Parents are reminded about classroom holiday parties on the 19th.  If you are interested in helping please contact your child’s homeroom teacher.

Busy holiday season….

WIS hopes everyone had a restful and filling Thanksgiving.  The cold mornings and holiday decorations remind us that the holiday break is just around the corner.  The time of the school year between Thanksgiving and Christmas break always goes by so fast.  The many activities going on in the building make this even more true.  Here are a few to take note of:

-Our Salvation Army red kettle drive continues.  It is great to hear the bells ringing and see change (a cash!) going in to them each morning.
-WIS is again sponsoring our donation Christmas tree.  Students are encouraged to bring in a new hat, scarf, or pair of gloves to help others in need to decorate our tree with!
-Title 1 Reading night Tuesday Dec. 9th from 6-7:30 pm
-Student Council Holiday school store will be open Dec. 16th-18th.  Students will be able to purchase holiday gifts for family and friends.
-Our PTO cookie dough fund raiser was a huge success again.  Thanks so much for your support!  The cookie dough will be available for pick up on Dec. 18th from 3:30-6:00 or on Dec. 19th during the school day.
-Our 5th grade students will be traveling to Springfield on Friday Dec. 19th for a concert at Hammons Hall on the MSU campus.
-Our 2nd quarter iChoose assembly will take place on Dec. 19th at 1:20 for 5th graders and 2:00 for 6th graders.  Our big prizes this quarter are $50 visa gift cards to help with those holiday gift purchases.  Class iChoose stores will take place after their assembly.
-Classroom holiday parties will be on Dec. 19th at the end of the day.  Parents are encouraged to contact homeroom teachers if they are interested in helping with these.
